Hello everyone,

I have researched for meaningful comparison between Mobil Volt Esso versus Nytro transformer oil online, and there seems to be no one doing this. Nytro has a long selection of transformer oil while Mobil Volt Esso has 35 and N36. We have had good experience using Volt Esso 35, and are now currently looking for other options comparable to this; either price wise or performance wise or both.

From your experience with transformer oil, could you please recommend which one of this is more preferable and why?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Are you looking for complete replacing of oil or topping up only? The decision will change depending on it. You can contact Nynas and they will offer you equivalent grade.
Better to go by National standards IEC 60296-2012 or ASTM D3487-08. Earlier ASTM spec met only Naphthenic oils, but as per latest revision both naphthenic and paraffinic oils will meet the spec. Please see attached paper on transformer oil prepared by me some time back which gives the evolution of oil specifications.
