base on QW-201 the subcontractors which are under the rules of one organization, do not need to requalify one wps and the PQR of one company is qualified the wps of another company with another name. we are a construction management company which have 3 different subcontractors with different QC systems. can we use one company pqrs for the qualification of another companies wps.

The way I interpret your post, your statement regarding qualification of welding procedures is not entirely correct. QW-201 was originally written to provide for companies that purchase an existing company that contains their own QC program and qualified WPS and PQR's, and pertains to responsibility and control under single ownership of multiple organizations.

In your post the way I understand it is that you have hired subcontractors. This is not the same meaning as ownership. Each of your subcontractors must have their own QC program with their specific WPS and PQR's.

if you ask one contractor to use another contractor's procedures, expect added cost for qualifications and also the other contractor may get ticked that you are giving their procedures to another contractor.

also, if you are subject to SOX, this would be a no-no without agreement from the contractor of the original procedures.

Something could be done as to collecting all the PQR's; analyze and see if you can comeout with a single WPS (with their own Co names)which all 3 Companies can use at the same job. I am sure the AI will be surpriced and it will be perfectly legal.

Per 328.2.2 of ASME B31.3, the welding procedures of one subcontractor could be used by the others subject to approval of the [Owner's]Inspector.
