Hello everyone,

I need to analyze pre-cast concrete roof joists (see attached photo, steel decking on the joists). They are sort of like a Tee shape but with a very short flange. The stem is tapered like a normal single Tee beam or joist. Has anyone come across this before? Any suggestion on how to find literature or load tables would be much appreciated.

Call a few of your local precasters and show them a few of those photos. They might more likely recognize that type of precast joist and its supplier than any of us would. What ever happened to asking the types of people who might best know the answers to some of these questions? What ever happened to using the phone, and interacting with, and getting to know, some of your local material suppliers? They have always been pretty willing to be helpful, when asked. Talk to one of their engineers, not the first phone monkey, or sales person, who picks up. Some of them do still recognize the sales and reputational value of trying to be helpful with engineers who have real questions.
