There is a company named Weland in Europe that designs/produces pre-engineered stairs. Has anyone heard of them or seen their work? By using this system, I can save the company quite a bit of money over stairs designed by me and manufactured in the US. However, I'm a bit skeptical having never seen their work. They used cold formed steel channels or U-shapes for their stringers and galvanize everything. Please offer your opinions of this.

On the other hand, does anyone know of a pre-engineered stair company in the US?

I haven't heard of the company you mentioned, but I have used pre-engineered stairs. I got them out of a McMaster-Carr book and they worked fine. They went from floor level up to a platform about 8' high. I was in a pinch and didn't have time to design or build my own. You just have to be careful that you're meeting the OSHA requirements.

OSHA requirements, in addtion to SBC, are exactly what I've been concerned about. Plus I've seen pics of the stairs, and for use in an industrial facility, they look light. I know most folks that will use the stairs in this facility may get a little nervous when they see light gauge steel used for stringers. They just prefer something heavier because it gives them peace of mind. So based on that, I'm going to end up designing the stairs to avoid any criticism and unhappy people.

I won't argue with that. Operator comfort level is an often overlooked design criteria.

McMaster Carr buys some of their pre-engineered stairs from Bustin Industrial Products in East Stroudsburg, PA. Contact them with a sketch and they will quote a custom stairway.
I am not related to Bustin but have worked with them on various projects.
