Hello and thank you for your time.
We are currently investigating the possibility of pre-heating and starting a 550 MW single reheat steam turbine using it's sister unit's (also 550 MW) single reheat boiler. The idea would be to heat the boiler and turbine concurrently, instead of heating the boiler first, then producing steam to heat the turbine.
I have found references to this in numerous places, and it may be a common practice at other plants. However, I cannot find what steam source is being used (reheat, main steam, nth stage extraction) as the supply, and where the tie is being made into the supplied unit. I also am having a hard time finding the steam flow rates for pre-heating, however I can figure this out. But if you have information on this as well, it would be greatly appreciated.
I would very much appreciate any information into this design. I am trying to build a justification case for adding this to our plant.
Regards,
Ben
