Precast building loading cases 1

Hi everyone,

I am reviewing design calculation for a precast concrete building (10'x20'x9') to be used as a control building. The roof slab, wall and floor slab are pre-cast concrete connected with steel brackets at 6 locations on top and bottom of the wall.
What are the loading cases should be considered in the design of the building (loading case before, during and after shipping).

What are the loading cases should be considered to design the floor slab since it is supporting the walls and the roof slab before installing the building on the foundation at the site.

Look at the PCI design handbook. Stripping, Shipping and Erection are the three load cases that must be checked (in addition, of course, to typical load cases).

The important part of this is that your f'c will be different for each of these load cases (Precasters like to strip as soon as 24 hrs. after casting), and your pick points will determine how the slabs are loaded (a precast slab will almost certainly be simply supported in its final position, but will experience negative moments due to the above load cases)
