I would be appreciated if someone gives me some information about precast industry - I means: how many factories manufacture precast elements in the world/ in the Europe, how many percentes of all concrete production precast concrete takes part in etc.?

I need it, becouse I'm preparing an article for conference about precast building, and those information would be so essential and "attracive" in the introduction.

Look toward Europe sources since the associations (mainly German) have very good figures on substantial volumes since it is common on many types of structures. The Precast Concrete Institute in the U.S. (PCI) should also have some good information since they have been around certifying about 90% of the U.S. plants, but the use of precast in the U.S. is not a common as Europe where use of cement per capita is many times higher than the U.S.

Some of the major German equipment manufactures may be willing to provide some valuable information on the international use of precast if they get credits in your presentation (they are very good businessmen/engineers).

Historically, Russia did a great deal of industrialized precast, but it was derailed after the mid 1990's because of the "one size/system fits all, building failures and many of the systems are idle and not used today. - They would ship precast 200-300 miles to be erected across the road from another plant that was operated by a different government department, but produced the same standard items as those that were shipped.

It is a big world with very little accurate information, especially since the term "precast" is really not defined. In many countries precast concrete includes the production of concrete block (CMUs), with are many time greater than the use of the larger elements, as measured by the traditional measures (cubic metes).

Good luck on your research.

Thank You Dick for Your answer.

I'm working for one of precast concrete supplieres in the Europe, so I see how good option is usuage prefabrication in civil engeenering, expecially in this case, when the investor has choice how to build. But, talking, writting without "numeres" (It's means dates) is, sad to say, poor. Of course, I can talk about adventages of precast concrete elements, buildings to promote it, but someone (not could), but should ask my question why? Do You agree with me?

Best regards

Kate
