Hi,

I am trying to design the small power system for a school, I am struggling to determine the amount of power given to sockets outlets that are available for general use. A friend is advising to use 200w/ socket ( 0.86A). How good is that ? Would be great if you provide any guide or document on how to predict the load power for different components.

You said in a previous post you were working to BS7671. If that applies to this installation then the On-Site Guide gives a lot of help for designing domestic and light commercial installations. It's in reasonably plain English too, a refreshing change from the Big Yellow Book. Both available from Amazon and numerous other places. Make sure you get the latest version - yellow cover at the time of writing.

Scotty has given you the best possible advice. If you are working to a specific code, then get the code and follow it.

Thanks scotty and would be nice to recommend any other books you may have or heard of.
