I see that in Ships, FPSO's - to reduce the Inrush current of the Main transformer, Premagnetisation transformer is used,
How is it advantageous when compared to other methods used to reduced the Inrush? for example say,
1) Controlled switching methods
2) Insertion of resistor and/or reactor
3) Current limiting reactors etc.
