Hi folks,
I have a huge problem.
Current in my work, I have a progressive cutting die tool for a steel part.
The cutting tool make piercing and blanking operations.
The problem is that the cutting punchs (piercinbg) are always breaking by the head.
Its impossible to have a normal production cicle.
Assumption: The punchs must breake when the movement of the punch is up, not when they are realy cutting the metal. The friction between the punch and the metal must be the cause.
The steel is a DOMEX 700 with 2.5mm thickness, very hard steel.
What can I do to solve this problem?
The PVD coating for the punchs can prevent this problem, reducing the friction?
The length of the punch must be small, so less punch goes through the metal?
The punch and die clearence should be reset? and if so what is the influence on breaking the punchs head.
Thank in advance for your kind answer.
