Hi
I intend to do my thesis on simulating superplastic forming process using Abaqus. I’m new to this software and the Abaqus user’s manual is not that useful for me. I’m having a problem finding Abaqus built-in pressure control algorithm option to maintain a target strain rate.Actually I can’t find this option in the Abaqus GUI.I would appreciate it if you could kindly help me.
(please find attached the pdf file concerning this built-in algorithm)

regards

I am assuming you are new to FEA as well. If so, then you should be very careful in jumping the gun because your goal, "in all probability", entails writing a subroutine (i.e., a piece of code in FORTRAN that runs as ABAQUS is solving the model). If no one in your lab has ever written or knows about subroutines, you may want to think this through because it is a non-trivial undertaking. You may need to learn basics of FEA for several weeks or months before you start to look at subroutines like UAMP and DLOAD. Debugging and verifying these codes can be a long process. You can always ask someone from SIMULIA or other groups whether they have a previously written code that carries out that algorithm or something similar. SIMULIA's customer help website and ABAQUS Yahoo! Group are also good resources.

If you are comfortable with FEA, all you need to do is install Microsoft Visual Studio, Intel Fortran Compiler and ABAQUS on your machine and start coding! Dassault Systeme website has all the required information regarding version compatibility. You may need to uninstall ABAQUS completely before installing VS and Fortran compiler. As I mentioned, the installation sequence is important (VS -> Fortran Compiler -> ABAQUS).
