Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone is using pressure diffentials in their design of dual reticulation systems (ie maintain a higher pressure in the potable main than recycled main) so as to minimise risk of cross contamination in the event of accidental cross connections. Im referring to large scale residential water distribution systems when i refer to dual reticulation. Any comments/information would ne appreciated.

Cheers

Mark

I don't think pressure differential is on the list of approved backflow prevention systems or schemes. On the surface this may sound like a good idea, but you have to remember when you have a pressurized system transients can and will be generated. The transients can cause systems to go to extreme vacuums without any control of the system operators, negating any beneficial positive pressures you maintain.

I have designed a few reclaim systems and we do usually design them for lower pressures to increase cost savings. The sale of the water is with the understanding that the customer is to supply pressures they will need and that the system only capable of supplying adequate suction pressures to the customers system.

Let us know what you are planning there and maybe we can help more..

signing, warning tape and other methods are generally used to indicate a re-use water water line and helps to prevent accidental cross connection.

Never heard this word used this way ?
