Pressure loss in Main steam piping

How is the pressure loss in Main steam piping assumed while fixing the Boiler Super heater outlet pressure, to start with the initial fixing of parameters. Is it expressed as a percentage of HP Turbine inlet pressure.
I have seen in some Power Plant engineering books that 5% of Turbine inlet pressure can be assumed for fixing pressure drop in Main steam Piping

Is there any code or standard which specifies the same ?

The code does not specify what it must be , but there are sections of the B31.1 code that assumes a range of pressure losses for purpose of helping define the design pressure and the safety valve set points. EPC's and AE's may have proprietary design standards that define the "economic" pipe size based on a review of the cost of the piping, supports, valves, and allowable end reactions at the turbine and boiler header. There are also maximum permitted velocities based on noise and vibration, expressed as a fraction of the speed of sound. And finally, the customer's specification may define heir assumed pressure loss that was used in their cycle optimization study.
