Hi,

Is there anyone familiar with this machining operation? I am struggling to find any information on the Internet, maybe it is known with another name but I am bit lost at the moment.

Thanks for your help.

Is this processing step for metals? I tried a search of pressure polishing and found several articles only related to a method for re-shaping patch pipettes during fire polishing.

Hi metengr,

Thanks for spending some time on my question.

This process is used for a connection to a shaft in contact with a bearing. I hope to receive first-hand information from the supplier, for the moment based on the few comments I was able to collect the process should involve a "stylus" that is pressed on the surface reducing both peaks and valleys and introducing compressive stresses. It seems a smart way to improve the surface quality but I would like to know more about its cost and limitations.

Hi Compositepro,

Thanks for addressing me in the right direction. Considering the limited hardness increase given by the measurements, my guess is low plasticity burnishing.

Will dig into further.
