I'm doing a test stand of centrifugal pump and a close cycle PVC pipe line to study the pressure pulsation that occurs from the pump, the liquid is water, the question is I want to create pulsation in water more than what the pump produce, how and what is the ideas to create pulsation !

Sounds like you are trying to MAKE water hammer? Set the pump up with a small tank and pressure switch like 30/50 and use a flapper type check valve (no spring). You will get pressure spikes when the pump starts and stops. You can also slam a ball valve shut at the end of a long pipe line.

What sort of "pulsation" are you talking about?

If you define the pressure rise and fall over time that you mean by "pulsation" then we might be able to see what is feasible.

Also why you're trying to do this will help.

Cut/notch/damage one or more vanes on the c'fugal pump, or replace the pump with a positive-displacement type (single piston pump e.g.)

The vane passing pulsation amplitude of a centrifugal pump is typically lowest at pump's BEP. The pulsation amplitude can be increased by operating back on the curve (a low flow) by flow control valve or orifice. What are you trying to learn about the pump's pulsation, and how are you measuring it?

Seems you need to define a little more specifically exactly why and what you are attempting to measure, I would also suggest a literature review as there should be a vast resource of material already available.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

Mekhael.

I can see this is your first post so I'll go easy.

The idea is to respond to questions and comments as they arise so that we can help you.

If you don't respond you won't get answers or advice.
