Pressure Reducing valve Inspection ?...

Dear Experts,

Please confirm what is wrong in my Pressure reducing valve.

Pressure Reducing Valve Spec 8 Bar inlet 2.5 Bar outlet.

Inspection Result:-

Testing Pump : Hand Pump.

Case:1 - Inlet pressure given 10 Bar Outlet Received 2.7 Bar.
Case:2 - Inlet pressure given 8 Bar Outlet Received 2.6 Bar.
Case:3 - Inlet pressure given 6 Bar Outlet Received 2.5 Bar.
Case:4 - Inlet pressure given 5 Bar Outlet Received 2 Bar.
Case:5 - Inlet pressure given 4 Bar Outlet Received 2 Bar.
Case:6 - Inlet pressure given 3 Bar Outlet Received 1.6 Bar.
Case:7 - Inlet pressure given 2 Bar Outlet Received 1 Bar.

My expectation is : Whatever pressure i given inlet (max 8bar) the outlet should be 2.5 bar.
If i give inlet 3 bar or 4 bar , how much outlet will come?...

Depending on the size and the flow the valve may well be fully open when the inlet is less than 6 barg, but there is still quite a large restriction.

If you look in the data sheet it will give you a valve CV at 100% open which you can use to calculate the pressure drop at your particular flow rate.

You need to know valve CV and flowrate.

If you flow half the amount through your valve you will get better results at lower inlet pressure.

Therefore there is nothing wrong with the valve as far as I can see, but you haven't given us Size, flow rate, valve CV when fully open or a percent open to valve CV curve.
