Pressure Releif Valve Piping Requirements

Does anyone know of any issues with using a flexible coupling on the discharge of a pressure relief valve. The PSV is mounted on a compressor suction line and because of the vibration of the compressor, there is issues with mechanical damage to the PSV. I was wondering if it would be possible to make use of a flexible coupling to help limit the stresses on the PSV piping.

The use of a drip pan elbow allows the SRV and the discharge piping to be independent.
 
This PSV is used on the suction line of a sour natural gas compressor. Does a drip pan elbow still apply? What code reference can I find this in?

If your vibration is so severe that you’re worried about damaging the PSV, I question if the flexible coupling won't cause additional problems and that maybe the best solution is to control the vibration.

De-coupling the PSV discharge may result in the PSV vibrating even more and increase the possibility of a fatigue failure at the suction header branch connection. I recommend that you to gusset this branch.

Are your pulsation bottles sized correctly? Is your pipe properly clamped down to sleepers or other extremely stiff support structure? Are your pipe clamps and supports still in good working order? Has an analog study been preformed on the system and has the piping been supported in accordance with the study results?

There is a large list of problems with this compressor package - first of which is there is no ballast and half of the piles are not welded to the skid.

Pulsation bottles are cantilevered inappropriately. There is very little in the way of piping supports, etc. All these will be addressed, but my question was mainly on code compliance of use of a soft coupling on the discharge of the PSV.
