Is it allowable to pressure test above a WOG rating? For example my MAOP is 540 psig, thus I am using 600 WOG parts. But for my pressure test I will be testing at 810 psig to 864 psig. I will be exceeding the WOG rating of 600 during the pressure test, but I will never be operating that high. Are WOG rated parts tested at higher values then their rating indicates?

See this post and the attached ones for what WOG actually means - basically not much.
However most bits of equipment allow pressure testing to 1.5 times the MWP.

It would be useful if there was some sort of manufacturing and design code associated with this item?? In the absence of it it is best to ask the manufacturer, but in reality I think you would be very unlucky if testing to < 1.5 times the MWP results in any failure.

However this only applies to body rating, NOT seal rating which is normally not more than 1.1 times MWP. So don't pressure test against a closed valve with that rating.

Remember - More details = better answers
