Can somebody enlighten me on which test pressure to govern during recertification of B31.3 and API 6A pipe..it is the working pressure of the pipe itself or 1.5 x maximum allowable working pressure? does any written code or standard to support on each?

Recommended for you

1.0 ASME B31.3, 323.2.2 (a) & 345.4.2 (a) make sure
all the provisions are carefully read. (1 1/2 x
the design pressure).

2.0 As for API-6A Im under the impression that this
standard refers to wellhead fittings. At any rate,
fittings are hydrostatically tested at 1.5 x the
pressure rating irrespective if the governing code
is API-6A or API-6D. (Refer to cl. 10.3 of API-6D)

*Pay special attension to MDMT and at what temperature the design pressure is rated at.

**Make sure you test against the weaker member in the pipping system. i.e. Lowest Pressure Rating (any fitting, specially blinds x 1.5 else pipe design pressure x 1.5)

Cheers
