Hi,
I have a flange i.a.w. ASME B16.5, class 300, size 1 1/4", group 2.8 material; according with the standard this flange has a Maximum Allowable Working Pressure of 51,7 bar. The question is: Is it possible to use that flange for a hydrostatic test at 70 bar?

Acc. to ASME B16.5(2003) the answer is yes. 51*1.5=75 > 70

"2.6 System Hydrostatic Testing
Flanged joints and flanged fittings may be subjected to system hydrostatic tests at a pressure of 1.5 times the 38°C (100°F) rating rounded off to the next higher 1 bar (25 psi) increment. Testing at any higher pressure is the responsibility of the user, taking into account the requirements of the applicable code or regulation. "
