Hi guys,

Currently we're using DesignCalc software to do our pressure vessel calculations, although we're thinking about switching to PV Elite. There's a specific problem we're having right now: we need to do code calcs for this Ariel racetrack flange ( but DesignCalc can't do non-circular nozzles. Does PV Elite have this functionality? I can't find the answer on the coade website. If it doesn't, can anyone suggest software that can? We're probably going to have to do this round of calcs by hand, but we'd like functional software going forward.

Your flange vendor seems to provide the required calculations:

From the same page you linked to above:

Code Calculations:
Code calculations for the special flanges are available on the Ariel website.

Enquiry case 133 of PD 5500 provides the calculations method for rectangular flanges. Also if the nozzle is obround, you can analyse the flange as per Appendix 2 of ASME VIII division 1.

The code calcs that Ariel provides are just for the nozzle independently. We still to do the calcs for the opening in the shell of the vessel that we're attaching it to. We can do the math ourselves, but we're just looking for software that will do this special case as well.
