Are there any metals/alloys that are inherently resistant to the formation of calcareous layer for metals subsea connected to cathodic protection system?
If this is a heat exchanger application consider operating the exchanger at a higher temperature to prevent deposits. We see distinction zones of deposits based on temperature distribution of our exchangers. 120°F and lower forms deposits, higher stays clean. I always assumed this was bio fouling related but perhaps they are calcareous deposits. Electrically isolating the exchangers also reduces deposit formation (less cathodic).
