Hi,
Our company is looking into purchasing new solid modeling software. We are still in the very early stages of this process, but in order to eliminate a few choices I wondered if anyone had some ballpark numbers on what we would need to pay for one seat of either Solid Edge, or UniGraphics. I already heard some preliminary numbers on SolidWorks ranging from $4-5k. Are the other two software packages near this figure? I really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.
Signed,
Zack

Solide Edge is in that range. UG is in the 8-10K range for a basic package. UG has a machining package that is 25K. These are list prices, there is usually discounting, corp agreement pricing, etc. to lower the actual price paid.

I feel that it is going to depend on what you will be needing from UG in order to give you anything remotely close to a ballpark figure. If you're looking at drafting, modeling, freeform, basic assemblies, and translators, then that will run you close to 20K (ballpark, right?) for an advanced designer bundle, without corporate pricing agreement...what we paid for our one seat at least. If you intend to purchase those modules separately, you will probably pay more per month in maintenance than if you would with the bundle alone. If you can spend 20K per seat for a few seats, then go with UG, especially if you're making large assemblies of complex parts.

However, Solid Edge is pretty slick for the price....
