I am using SolidWorks 2003 SP0. My drawings look fine on the screen but when I print them some of the drawing views are missing (but the notes and dimentions do print). It looks like temporary geometry is covering over the images. Even when I turn on "Hide All Types" in the View menu, I still am missing half of some drawing views. Any ideas????

Thanks,

Are you using layers & coloured lines? If so check that no layers are hidden & that your missing lines are not White.

Are you missing the views if you do a Print preview?

If you see the views then it's your Print driver, if you don't then it's SW. And if that's the case you should probably upgrade to the latest SP, which is 5.1.

In Print Preview all the views are there. I also discovered that using an 'A' size drawing template works fine. When I switch to 'B' size is when the images get cut off.

If I turn the drawing into a PDF the same thing happens.

Thanks for the help.

Missing views and cut off views are 2 different issues. So you need to be clear on what the problem is.

If the views are there and are only getting cut off then it's probably just a print scale issue. Try using 95% instead of 100%.

If your views are showing up in the print preview and not on the paper, then the problem is with your Print driver. Get the latest driver for your printer. That driver might have worked fine for an earlier version of SW, but that doesn't mean it will work for your latest version.

I have had a similar problem in the last few days using SW2004. The drawing had two views outside of the template sheet that didn't need to be seen, and only a couple of detail views on the drawing sheet. I overcame it by setting everything to resolved, and turning off any extraneous stuff that was running in order to free up memory.

By the way, it looks as though you race hydros. What class?

Thanks all that responded. By loading SP1 and buying a new printer I was able to overcome the problem.

Tom: I use to race outboard hydros (BSH and 25SSH). Then got into faster stuff, but have since retired and became a full time 'desk pilot'!

I just had what I think is the same problem after having printed many drawings successfully.

Print preview: the views are absent but the dims are there.

Zoom within preview: views show up

Print: Views absent, dims are there

I shut down all open windows including SWX and reopened SWX and tried again with success. Odd.

Sounds like your problem was memory related. The fact that you "printed many drawings successfuly" suggests that your available memory had reached its limit.

[lol] Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film. [lol]
