Prints for mirror image parts? 1

What's you/your company's policy on producing prints for parts that are mirror images? Do you always produce prints for each, or is is occasionally acceptable to issue a vendor a PO with a line for part A (print included) and a line for part B with a note that it's an exact mirror image of part A?

What's the quickest and easiest way to generate a print for the mirror image when you've already created a print for the first part? Any shortcuts?

I always make prints of both. It makes things less confusing for the outside shops...most of the time.

We handle it as a dash configuration of the parent part (i.e. Left Hand is -001 and Right Hand is -002). We fully detail -001 and then note that -002 is a mirror of -001. We will have an iso view of each that identifies which is which.

I do it Dustin's way - but I've found over time - that it's less confusing for suppliers, etc. to do it Dan's way.

Prints for both. Same number with an "M" suffix. For example part drawing 12345.slddrw has a mirror with drawing 12345M.slddrw. We keep these drawings at the same rev level to avoid confusion.

Two models, one detail with opposite noted. No problems thus far (probably because the part is usually made to the model and only inspected to the drawing).

We started out with the mirror as a detail on the same print, then we ran jobs that only consumed the mirrored part...
