DEAR SIR/MADAM,

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRISMATIC SECTION AND GENERAL SECTION IN SACS/ STAAD.

CAN ANYBODY EXPLAIN ME, IT WILL VERY USEFUL FOR ME.

Usually a prismatic section is one you can setup tapers/haunches from one section depth/width/section property to another. Never used staad so can't say for sure in your situation, but it works this way in etabs.
 
A prismatic section has a uniform cross section throughout its length. A tapered member (like a pole that is bigger at the base) is not prismatic .
 
Sorry, I read the original question as non-prismatic, wannabeSE is of course correct.

Have you tried reading the staad help files or manual, they can sometimes explain the illogical! Failing that ask the staad technical support.
