I was wondering if it is possible to import features from one Pro-E part into another. Here is my situation.

I have a customer who has been changing their start part files, layer requirements, model parameters, and notes almost weekly. My team has been working in circles trying to keep up with the latest iterations of requirements. I was hit with requirements that completely changes the model parameters and layers for our parts. We are doing MDB designs so layering is crucial for success on my project.

My question is. Is there any way to update a previously modeled part to a NEW start part file? IE I was hoping there was a way to import the work we already have into a new file started with the most recent start part because the new start part creates notes and layers differently than the old one. There are also about a dozen different model parameters to populate, which I do not want to do manually for 100+ components. Any ideas?

Mapkeys or ModelCheck can both 'automate' the upgrading of existing files to new standards.

Model Parameters can be copied and pasted. Layers can be saved and imported to current model. That will at least save the trouble of typing everything. You may have to create a dummy assembly in order to have both parts in session at the same time.
From the layer dialog, choose setting/setup file/save--to save the layers you want to add to the new file. Choose settings/setup file/open--to add layers to the new file.
Model Parameters can may selected, from the parameter dialog, as many as you want, edit/copy-- edit/paste to the new one.
