Hi there,

I'm conducting a contact analysis and dealing three contact areas. It will take lots of computer resources to complete the analysis (about 7 hours) by using multi-pass adaptive solver. Can I use the single-pass adaptive solver instead? How good the solusions will be for the single-pass vs. the multi-pass solver?

Thanks.
Charles

That question requires an understanding of the definition of SPA and MPA. The shortfall of SPA is that you dont get a convergence plot. You basically jump to a high p-level in the second pass. (yes single always makes 2 passes) The solution isn't going to be better or worse. If you dont plan on checking convergence then there is no reason to run MPA. If you do then you must.
