Hi Friends,

In Pro/E, is it possible to export a part in such a format (not a neutral format like IGES)that it is readable in Unigraphics.

Pro/E 2001 and Wildfire can export a parasolid file.

Hidden config.pro option: enable_parasolid_export yes

You can also use STEP. I got better results with an assembly using STEP than the Parasolid export. The export didn't take the patternned hardware items. The drawback to STEP is that it builds components and for vendor parts we only want it as a single component.

Ben,

I realize I am wandering off topic here a bit, but I have a suggestion for you regarding single part STEP files. I make a shrink-wrap of the STEP'ed assembly to make it a single part. I do not check in the individual STEP parts into commonspace, only the shrink-wrap single part.

Shrink-wrapped parts when brought into UG come in as surfaces and this makes it hard to mate them in our UG assemblies.

We have proe 2001 and unigraphics. We have tried this option
in config but it would not accept it. I have gone in the PTC
knowledge base and it states that it is an untested option in Wildfire.

The option is not available interactively. You can enter it into the config options box or directli in config.pro, but it will not show up if you do a search, even for 'enable'.

looslib,

We've tried adding the config line "enable_parasolid_export yes" into the config file and then loaded the new config into 2001. When looking at the options there is a red circle with a slash through it. It appears that the option cannot be read. When doing a File Save a Copy there is not an option to do a parasolid. Am I missing something in your explanation. Could you clarify the technique and how exactly you are exporting the Parasolid.

Thanks,

I guess it doesn't work in 2001. I have build 2003200 and the option has the red circle with the slash. The Parasolid format doesn't show up in the Save A Copy file type, either.

It does work in Wildfire.
