I don't know what the meaning of the part icon is. Elements can't be synchronized (published elements are available but synchronization can't be done) and I can't use new published elements in this part only. There are other parts in the assembly that can be synchronized successfully but this one! Please let me know how to solve it.

The brown gear mean the product links are outside their context.

solution: open the product in its original context or isolate all links and create new ones...

For electric module I was told to never create any kind of links when the icon is brown, all the links will be lost. I suppose it is something general.

Itsmyjob,

" - the product links are outside their context" means that the original/previous links are broken?

Thanks,

no.
let say you have a product P
inside you have 2 parts: A and B
you create a link from A to B while in context of P (create in B the mid point of Line L from part A)

no you create product P' and bring part B inside.
the gear of B inside P' will be brown (link outside context)

if you open P with A and B
the gear of B inside P will be green (link context)
