problem closing a loft, aka join

Thanks all, for all your previous help.

I have created a v5 loft as a bunch of surfaces in a join, which only needs the centerline plane to close. When I use the 'close surface' common in the part design workbench, I get an 'cannot be closed by a planar face' message. The problem is, I have a lot of faces, and don't have a clue as to where the problem is. In v4, the problem area would show up in red so you could fix it. Is there a way to troubleshoot this?

1) create a loft by join surfaces? Either your terminology is incorrect, or your methodology is.

2) "Cannot be closed by planar face" means that Catia cannot generate a small planar patch to automatically fix the trouble spot, or that inseting a fill surface will not suffice. You will have to hunt the problem, and fix it yourself, most likely by either extrapolating the surface and trimming, or re-creating your sections with tangency and/or curvature imposed with limit curves. (that come from the adjacent surface)

3) You can diagnose the problem by using the "boundary" function. Wherever it wants to create a boundary on a joined surface, you have a problem. In V5, it shows up in green.

You can also use the "Connect Checker" in the GSD workbench to find any gaps in your surfaces.
