Good Day All,

I work in Civil Engineering. My firm currently utilizes both Acad Civil 3D 2006 and Acad Civil 3D 2008. I am trying to find the best way for someone with 2006 to open and work within a file last used by someone with 2008. Saving the drawing down to 2004 format doesn't seem to work. The Batch Drawing Converter wont read files from 2008 and the Export To Autocad command in 2008 moves the refernced drawings from the original location so they cant be seen in the viewports, plus it creates a copy of the original file.

Can anyone help me find a better way?

Just so you know, upgrading everyone to 2008 is not an option, at least not today.

Thank you

The person using 2008 needs to save the file as a AutoCAD 2004 type file. Then the person with 2006 can open it.

ctopher,

Thanks for your response, but that doesn't work. I set up the 2008 Admin Image to save down all files to 2004 format which it says it does and it is reflected in the "open and save" tab under "options" but it still doesn't work. We have had a few files that can be opened by earlier versions and plotted, but that's it. No changes can be made to a drawing if it opens.

Check your read/write permissions for the files and folders.
