problem opening this excel file blank grey screen only??

Folks
I am having problem opening an excel file. I get a blank grey screen when it opens with the file name of the document
I have tried opening it in safe mode, repair using all online help I could find.
Its really strange there is information within and if you open it with notepad you can see the scrambled text within.

I really need to open it. I have also scannned it with avg antivirus. Also I looked at file properties and tried to open it as a copy read only etc.

Can any one help??

Are you looking at some grayed out cells? In other words, are you at cell A1? What happens if you zoom in / out? Can you select anything?

Have you checked if columns/rows are hidden? Select all cells (top left corner of the worksheet, left of the A, above the 1) and then Format/Row/Unhide and Format/Column/Unhide.
