problem with headset

hi,
I connect mic & speaker cable to audio-out & audio-in
ports of my computer ,when I speak by pc-to-phone
through internet.I can not hear sound of other
person whom number I dial.
please tell me what must I do?

Does the speaker work with other applications? If it doesn't you may have a bad speaker.
