Problem with Helix and elliptic cross-section

I am trying to model a spring with a elliptic cross-section. The Helix itself has variabel pitch. There is no problem when sweeping a circular cross-section along the helical path.

My problem arises when i sweep along the helical path using the elliptical cross-section. The elliptical cross-section itself is rotating along the path and that is not what i want. I want the elliptical cross section to stay in the initial orientation along the sweep-path.

When i try to sweep with option "keep profile normal constant" i get an intersecting error.

Is there any way to achieve my desired behaviour of the sweep?

Can you share your CAE file?

In general I usually suggest using a CAD program to create anything but basic geometry. This would be fairly easy in SolidWorks or Catia.
