Problem with step file and converting to an allcatpart. 1

I received a step file of an assembly from an external company. My goal is to create an allcatpart for this assembly however when I try this I get problems when trying to use the boolean assemble command. I want to assemble all the bodies into one body. It works for all the parts except for one. While debugging the part I noticed I was not able to put a "pocket" in this particular part. But for all other bodies I can modify. I talked to the company that provided the orginal step and they said the problem is on my side from step conversion to catpart. I am not sure this is the case. The native software is Solidworks.

Any ideas on how to "fix" the part so it can be assembled into the single body?

Sounds like you have two solid bodies with faces that are tangent to one another. Scroll down the Partbody in the AllCatPart to find the Assemble in error(lets call him/her Body.2). Delete the Assemble from Partbody but not Body.2. Update the part to verify the remaining assembles do not error. GSD intersect Body.2 with Partbody to see what the intersection command is calculating during the PD Assembly command. You might need to just thicken a Body.2 face to get a clean intersection.

Ok I did what you suggested but I am not sure what my next step is. But to provide a bit more infromation when I try to re-assemble I get the following message "One body does not cut right across the other one: the split cannot be computed".

That error can occur if your solid body is trying to intersect directly on a surface line. I have found the surface was joined within tolerance but in actuality the gap of tolerance still exists. This also produces unsatisfactory fillets.
What results did you receive with GSD intersect solid --> solid. BTW you should do this as a datum item.
