Problems in the simulation of a tensile test

Hello,

i have been working with Abaqus since two weeks in the University. I

have to simulate a tensile test with steel. Now i have serveral

problems and i can´t find a solution in the Documentation.

1.) How can i get a stress / strain curve for a defined region of my

tension bar? Already tried to change the histroy output requests in the

"step" module. I selected the outout variables stress/strain for the

domain whole model. But this message appears:

"Node-based and element-based history outout variables.........."

So i created a set. But which vertices or edges should a select? I´m

only able to select edges an vertices, which i created in the part

module. I can´t get the exact region i want? What can i do here?

After trying everthing i don´t get variables for stress/strain in the

History output in the Visualization module!

2.) In the load module: how can i get my boundary (encastre) to be on

the whole area where my clamping on the tension bar is. I can choose

the vertices and the edges but not a part of the area?

3.) In the Material options in the menu plastic: the data do i need the

true or the engineering stress/strain?

hello,

As far as I know:
1. TRUE stress/strain is required for material in Abaqus
2. You can't creat stress/strain curves directly..u may get stress/time curve at certain element or node as well as strain/time curve..then you could combine them to obtain stress/strain curve
3. If you are using CAE, your tensile specimen can be divided into three areas: one at the middel and two at the boundaries.
