Problems with Mold Cavity 1

I have a problem with creating a mold cavity.

The part that I am creating the cavity for is modeled in solidworks 2003. After positioning the part, I click on edit mold cavity, then cavity, then I slect the part and ok.

I get an error message saying "failed due to geometric condition".

Does anyone know what that means exactly? Is there a way to troubleshoot what it is about the geometric condition that causes the problem?

Thanks in advance

My guess is that perhaps you have an edge of your part hitting an outer surface of your cavity part. Is your part fully enclosed within the cavity part? (Faces are OK, but not edges.)

The other thing could be the attempted creation of multiple bodies with the cavity feature. This works fine in 2004, but I'm not sure if it's OK in 2003 or not. To eliminate this potential problem, shut off any holes you may have in your part before performing the cavity feature and make sure you don't have any areas that would create separate solid bodies by your cavity operation.

The problem went away in 2004.

Thanks for your help.
