I am looking for any opinion on how to dig an offshore buried pipe in order to conect another pipe to it.

Does anyone knows an standard, book, manual, paper, web page dealing with this topic?

Any info will be really apreciated.

Excavation for pipeline depends on the water depth, soil type and extent of excavation required.

For excavation around an existing pipeline for tie-in of a new pipelinie, you could mostly likely adopt jetting if the soil is loose. Your procedure needs to take care not to damage or loose stability due to soil liquefaction. You might need additional stabilization outside of the excavation zone prior to start of excavation.

1- Pipe location to be confirmed.
2- Machine diggig to start from somewhere close to the pipeline and not over it.
3- Durring digging, pipeline locator should be used to confirm the location and distance to the pipe.
4- When close to the pipe (approx 300mm, use hand dig to expose the pipeline.
5- When pipeline is exposed, machine diggin can safly be used for the rest.
6- For hot tap connection, all confiened space requirement to be met.
7- Depending on the soil type, safety messures to be considered. (eg shoring ...)
