Anybody ever make a toroid assembly in Inventor? How'd you do it or how would you do it? It's easy enough to "wrap" a wire around it but how can I make it follow a single path and in increments like in the attached pic?

Thanks.

I would probably use a 3D intersection between extruded surface and revolved surface as a Sweep path. Then pattern as needed.

There is something you just might find useful here:

sorry, it appears that cadforum.cz needs registration, my browser logs me in automatically. Again, should be simple and no privacy breach required.

i've done this a few times. And the pictures WERE pretty! They also showed how tight the assembly was with the wound wire. Start with a straight wire the correct thickness tangent to the coil(at the bottom).Use a sweep and a 3d line to approximate one revolution then use a circular array to connect the segments. In this case, every third instance would require and adjoining wire.(and another array)
This kind of pictoral view is a nice addition to the fabrication procedural notes.
