Hi,

I have been working as a process engineer for past 6 months on refinery-offsites. I am looking for some general information (bed time reading) on types of isolation and when to use the different combinations e.g. manual valve, manual valve with spectacle blind, double block and bleed. I have learnt the basics for drain lines, high pressure process lines, but just want to firm up my knowledge.I have had a look in perrys and C&R but cant see much, refernce to any eng-tips threads or websites would be much appreciated,

Thanks,
Simon

using "process plant piping system isolation" as serach criteria via google returned many results, some are pdf files that may be of interest.

the plant owners/operators certainly have practices and policies to implement as well into the plant design.

the process fluid to be isolated certainly is a key factor as well.

good luck & good question!
