Hi,

How could I create a geometry link between two components?
Let's say I have a cylinder in one component.
I use a flat face of this cylinder for creating a sketch on the second component.
I copy the edge of first component(which would be a projection).
Then, let's say I increase the diameter of the first component.
How could I create the link that would make the projection in the second component identical with the geometry in the first component?

Thanks,

Hi,

Short answer due to luck of time...use External References, and check of course your settings in Tools-Options to have Link to External References marked (and answer positive when CATIA will ask you to use this kind of link).

Hope someone else will have more time to give other details.

Hi Ferdo,

I really appreciate your prompt reply.
(OPTIONS>INFRASTRUCTURE>PART INFRASTRUCTURE>GENERAL>EXTERNAL REFERENCES)

On the other hand, could someone else give more details regarding the first part of Ferdo's reply ( "....use External References), please?
Thanks a lot.

I'm a little confused if you want to copy the flat face (surface), plane, edge(circle) or sketch from the first component. ???

But whatever you want to copy:
1. Publish the element (or elements) to copy in the first component
2. Copy the Publication
3. Change the window to the second component
4. Paste Special + As Result With Link (this will create the External Reference)
5. use the pasted element to create the second component.

If the published object is modified in the first component, the pasted object will reflect that change.
