Hi all,

I wanted to know the factors that could effect production rates for new wells. I have a case where the facility starting producing oil from new wells, water cut is as low as 3% and heavy oil. But after a week, it was found that the production rate is less than the expected. The wells are completed with sand screens and lifted by ESP & PCP. Offcourse the sand will be the first suspect, but other that could it be Skin factor issue? or maybe something went wrong with the reservoir pressure???? what could be the reason?

Cheers :)

Has the BHP changed? Could also be paraffin or asphaltene build up in the tubing and in the chokes. Also what is the pH and the chlorides on the water you are getting in your cut.

Hi There,

Thnx for your reply. Not sure about the BHP as it is all ESP &PCP and the client does not have sensors for the BHP, but the oil has paraffin and heavy oil. Water produced is fresh water.

Thnx
