I am using linear rack and pawl for my design. The pawl is angled to allow forward motion and prevent backward motion. Basically I want the pawl to be spring loaded so that in rest position it is always preventing backward motion while allowing forward motion. I have used spring and damper along with 3D connection. When I drag it, the concept works but the spring doesn't go back to its original position (i.e it doesn't go back to its unstretched initial state). I have used Datum points to connect the spring and base.

I want to be able to drag the rack so that the spring loaded pawl gives me some resistance but once it moves forward, I want the pawl to come back to its original position.

Thanks in advance.

Attached is the concept.
