Is it possible to create a mapkey in ProE that would include choosing a specific printer in Windows Print Manager? If so how?

Thanks!

Art,

Just like recording any mapkey .. start the recorder.. choose a name for it and make all the picks that you want.. to set your print parameters... be it default printer or to jpeg.... all pages etc... now if it is print to jpeg or a file.. and it the first time.. thats fine... but if the file exist already then you need 2 mapkeys.. one for maiden and one for overwrite.. because that warning window will pop up when you overwrite something...same applys for iges/step output in model

you might not really need 2 ... but you want the want that goes around the overwrite at least.. I'd have to to and see if it will fly on a 1st output

anywho... then I'd save the mapkey under the name you choose, just the single mapkey.. and test it again make sure it works the way you want then copy and paste it into your config.pro file..then you can delete the mapkeyname.pro file.. it's a few extra steps but in the long run it will save you some hassles... put a remark like a !****** my printer *** the ! is the start of a remark

I use notpad and you may want to associate .pro files with it in windows explorer.. while ProE will categorize config settings in Pro .. it lumps mapkeys all together.

From one cam person to another :)... you using Pro/Man or another system?

I don't think this is a solution to his problem.
I've tried creating mapkeys for the standard plot sizes, and it only partially works.
We print A & B size plots on our printer, and C and larger plots on the large format plotter.
When you record all of the steps (changing margins, setting plot size, printer, paper size, etc.) It appears to record everything fine. When you go and use the mapkey though, it goes thru the config steps, but stops at the print window, and you have to select the printer, paper size, etc.
I've tried numerous times with the same results.

Create a printer configuration file for the exact print job(s) you want. Then create mapkey(s) that use these pcf files. I have one called postb to get B size output from our postscript printer, posta to get A size output and a third called PLOT to plot full size to our plotter. They all use the windows print manager.

dgallup,

Could you post the A & B PCF files so I can cut and paste? I know I'll need to change certain keywords, but it will serve as a template.
