Hey everybody.
I am new to solid modeling and I had a question. If I have a engineering company that uses proE and I want them to make a prototype for me. SLA/CNC etc. Can I use solid works and export the project. What kind of file type should I export? Any thoughts are welcome.

Thank You

Do a Parasolid export from SolidWorks. Pro/E Wildfire can read them. Another option would be a STEP file.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

I've had success printing small models on both a Z-Corp Z402(powder/glue) and the Dimension 3DP (ABS plastic) from SolidWorks by exporting an .STL file.

From what I understand, this file is fairly universal and contains coordinates and vectors which build your model. The 3d printer then interprets these directions into movement of the print head.
