I've used an IPU from ADD Engineering and they are wonderful. Fairly simple system, but the flexibility and control is very useful.

I'm starting a "budget" build on a track car with some friends and we are looking for something similar, but much less expensive. I've noticed that a good number of fairly modern cars (in some cases as early as late 90's and early 2000's cars) have a similar "no real fuese or relays" system for much of the power distribution in them. Inexpensive COTS parts or junkyard parts are likely the best fit of our cash budget, and we have plenty of time and nerdyness to throw at the little problems. Are any of these potentially adapted to use in other cars? As in would there be references or software to reprogram them? Or at least modest documentation?

thanks for your time

What sort of production vehicles use this sort of electronic power distribution system?

MoTeC has just released a line of PDM units. Ole Buhl racing also offers one
Let me know which cars you've seen with these sorts of systems, I'd be very interested in doing some junkyarding to find one! Chances are they are CAN, which can really save on wiring from switch panel to relay box.

OBR's unit is the best on the market but the price is up there.

I'm not aware of any cars using this technology but I'll have a look out from now on.
