Project 3-D Elements in Product

In my product assembly I am attempting to project edges from one catpart to the other using "project 3-D elements"
icon. The software will not allow me to choose an edge. I do believe I accomplished this feat before. Please advise.

What does the error message say?

You may have turned on the "only use published geometry" in the Tools Options,

Or, you might be working with a part that is out of context,

or it might be something else....
