I need to project Laser Measurement to a Computer in Real time.
[ul]
[li]Laser must measure in feet / inches [/li]
[li]Laser must measure between 5' and 75'[/li]
[li]Need to project the Laser measurement display onto a computer[/li]
[li]The measurement must project in real time[/li]
[/ul]

Does anyone know of any device or software add on that is currently capable of doing this?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

I have a small Hilti laser measuring device that is about 10 years old and it works extremely well, except in bright light. Correct to 3 mm to a range of 200 m. There is no uplink... by hand to a laptop.

Leica also makes the Disto which has a bluetooth interface... you might look into this; I've not used one and it does store some of the data. I don't know how the bluetooth works.

From their website:

Thank you for your reply!
We have the Leica Disto D8, the bluetooth only allows for a transfer of information to MS Excel as a table.
It does not allow for it to be viewed in real-time.

Thank you!
That may very well be a viable option!
I had no idea that product existed.

I think the new distros have better software or apps may be better or that's what their website says

Thank you!
I sent messages to sales at Disto and they inform me they cannot do what I need.
Their software allows for "room design" software and excel spreadsheet calcs.

Here are some links to industrial sensors ($$$) with digital and analog output:
Laser Distance Meter DLS-C15

We also offer a laser distance meter for fixed mounting for multiple applications in the industrial sector such as position testing, testing coil weight, etc. This laser distance meter transmits digital or analog readings to a PC or a PLC-System for further analysis or as the basis for controlling commands.

AR1000 Laser Distance Sensor
The Acuity laser distance sensor model AR1000 can measure 30 meters with an accuracy of 3 mm. Using a reflective target board, the sensor will measure distances up to 150 meters. Ideal for measuring fill levels and material height monitoring, the AR1000 sensor can hold up to very tough environments.

Thank you!
I will investigate the lasers listed!
I truly appreciate your help!

At college, my son noted that an engineering student used a common gaming device ( think a Nintendo hand input wand, perhaps for a golf game ) to scan an engine in real time and pump the data into Solidworks. Pretty cool and nearly zero cost.

That is extremely interesting! I never thought to go in that direction!
I will definitely look into it.

Any resolution on this? curious mimes want to know...

I have narrowed my choice down to 2:
LUMOS - LDM51 Series &
Acuity - AR1000

I am waiting on contact with their Sales department.

Thank you for the follow up!
I will post once a decision has been made.
(I will try to post a pic of it in use as well)
