Hi All,

The problem I have is that the foundation calculations prove that a 600 x 225mm strip foundation will be sufficient to take loads of the build in concern, but in the NHBC the minimum projection is 150mm, but The plinth wall I have is 360mm in total leaving me with 120mm projection will this still work?

- I don't no AU codes or practices well so keep that in mind.

- My understanding has been that the 6", soft requirement is about providing space to act as a platform for wall formwork. So basically a constructability thing.

- I've done 4" project in the past and nothing's gone awry. If you have access to the project contractor, maybe just ask them about this.

I similarly see no reason you can't use a 225mm strip foundation but I also don't do any AU practice. I'd either make sure there's an exception allowed in the code or see if you're allowed to waive this prescriptive requirement if you get approval from the contractor and building code official.
